A magical play space for all abilities!

In October 2019, Omnitech completed the Playground for Norris Bank Reserve in Bundoora. Not long after the play space was open, local community blog Mumma Knows North praised the park by stating;

“New Park. Wow, wow, wow! What an incredible spot. There is truly something here for everyone”.

The original design concept was constructed by landscape architect company Playce Pty Ltd. In which, the goal for Norris Bank Reserve, was to innovate and incorporate a variety of physical and sensory activities. Making it a magical and adventure playground that tailored to all ages and abilities, whilst promoting social community use and a safe and well-maintained reserve.

Omnitech started off by designing a series of non-symmetrical cubes, ranging from 4 metres in height down to 1.2 metres, which linked together through a series of physical challenges. This then formed a large, irregularly shaped landscape offering a diverse range of fun-filled adventurous activities.  

 To stimulate the climbing needs for both older and younger children, Omnitech featured multiple customised high and low-level ropes structures in the form of swinging ropes, crossing brides and suspended nets.  And to increase the “magical fun”, Omnitech installed three extra-wide twin slides, vertical ladders and sliding poles.

 In finer details, Omnitech offered a mosaic sensory tunnel containing several tactile materials, where ‘hidden letters’ stamped into custom perforated mesh panels and inscribed on timbers offered a secretly fun game of ‘seek and find’.

Norris Bank Reserve is definitely the play space to go with the whole family and enjoy a magical day of fun!
